Music therapy is the intentional use of evidence-based music interventions by a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) to address health, functioning and well-being. It is an adaptive allied health practice that embeds the strengths, needs, and goals of clients at the core of care planning. Anyone can benefit from music therapy, with or without previous musical experience.

Through engagement in music therapy, individuals can achieve goals across four key domains of health, functioning, and well-being, ultimately enhancing life satisfaction. Additionally, music therapy can complement and strengthen the effects of other health professions within multidisciplinary care settings.
